Message from the Superior General (Sr. Goretti D’Souza)

At the onset of this crucial time in history, when the world seems ridden with devaluing self and others, I raise my heart to God for all the blessings He has showered upon our Institute and on the Church at large.

Walking in the footsteps of our Revered Founder, Rt. Rev. Bishop Henri Fortunat Caumont, the First Bishop of Ajmer-Jaipur who was instrumental in founding the Congregation of the Mission Sisters of Ajmer in 1911, we have been abundantly blessed. He was a person of foresightedness, rich in authentic calibre and a person of prayer and fortitude. We the Mission Sisters of Ajmer hold ourselves fortunate and worthy to be the torch bearers carrying the light of values and true witness to people around us.

The Mission Sisters of Ajmer have grown and have spread in various parts of India. The simplicity of life and hard work of our pioneering Sisters has left an indelible mark in the minds and hearts of the hundreds of people they have touched and served.

To continue this noble task, we need gallant and willing souls to work for and build the Church of God. Young girls who willingly and fervently share this obligation are trained under the able and spirit filled guides in areas of spiritual, psychological and emotional growth to become full-fledged and be absorbed in the ministries laid before them. They are formed to be persons of authentic values enabled to become ‘people for others’.

The Power Bank of prayer and sacrifice are the Sisters who have spent their lives in service and are now in communities spending their time in prayer and silence. These sisters continue to enhance the Mission by praying for those working in the different ministries, for the world and especially those in trouble and distress.

We render our total service and expertise in Ministries of Education, Healing, Evangelization and Social Work. Through our Ministries and life we strive to witness to the Gospel values.

In the Teaching Ministry, we have expanded in 10 States, running Primary, Secondary and Senior Secondary Schools and an autonomous College. Having crossed the threshold of 100 years, the schools have been well placed and students who have passed through have been settled holding high positions in Society. It is wonderful to note that many Alumini have been returning back to their Alma Mater in terms of their expertise, their professional ties, their financial support and ways best felt.

In the Healing Ministry, two full-fledged hospitals with updated and latest gadgets cater to the needs of the public. Much care and right counsel is given to both patients and their immediate families.  Our Homes for the Destitute and the Aged see to the needs of those who are left without the care of their own families

In the Ministry of Social Work, the Sisters take up projects, supported by the NGO’s and the GOs; they reach out to vast areas of people in need. Our Sister lawyers take up cases especially those of the poor and the underprivileged. They counsel and guide families in distress and give them the needed help.

We need however to make our efforts to understand and live ‘Synodality’ the vision of Pope Francis for the Church today. Synodality awakens the Church to cooperate and work together with the attitude of servant leadership. As consecrated women and leaders in the Church we have a responsibility to challenge ourselves to journey with others as people of God, making His powerful Presence felt through our Ministries. We keep in mind the Institute’s Charism: ‘An intense participation in the Redeeming Mission of Christ’ and the Empowerment of women and girl children, the poor and the needy, to be the compassionate face of God and build a human fraternity.

We have a herculean task ahead; and we pray that we be empowered by God’s true wisdom, to work for His glory alone, so that His Kingdom be established in the hearts and minds of all.

May God bless all our united endeavors with new vigor and enthusiasm.
